The Hilton Cadets saw three of their seniors sign National Letters of Intent in a ceremony at school on Thursday. Austin Holley who returns to Hilton this season will go to St. Bonaventure. Attackman Zach Boyatzies will be off to Mercyhurst and Ben Mitrano who also plays in the attack will be moving on to Marist.

For the seventh time and after a brief absence, Section Five Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. The 2019 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon.

# 2923  Fairport Wins First Title Since 2014

After losses in the Championship games to Penfield (9-8) last season and Pittsford (9-5) two years ago, the Red Raiders were bent on getting their first Section Five Title since 2014.  Fairport scored five goals in the second half while holding the Hilton offense scoreless to defeat the Cadets 9-4.  Key players in the success were face-off midfielder Jake Knapp and sophomore midfielder Rob Crowley.  Crowley finished with 4g on the night and Knapp finished at 8/13 at the face-off.  Both were named to the All Tournament Team for Fairport.  Knapp’s success was even more impressive based on Hilton face-off midfielder Shawn Doran’s season.  Doran finished the season at 82% with 306 wins.  Before tonight, he had never had less than 50% day at the faceoff.  Doran, for his performance throughout the Tournament was also named to the All Tournament Team.

For the first time in program history, Hilton advances to the Sectional Finals with an 8-7 overtime win against second seeded Pittsford.  The Cadets played four strong quarters and held off the late push by the Panthers.  In overtime, the game winning goal was scored by Matthew Mojsej.

Tuesday: DAY IN REVIEW:With only one more "big night" of games left in the reguar season, there were many important games played tonday, which will have an impact of the tournament seeds at the end of the week. Hilton, Geneva, Pal-Mac and Canandaigua both locked up 75% records with wins today, but there will be more changes for other teams on Thursday and Friday.

Friday: DAY IN REVIEW: Only the Hilton vs Williamsville East game was originally scheduled for Friday, but there were two additions today. Hilton was a 13-3 winner over Williamsville East with ten players making the offensive book, led by Zach Boyatizies, Michael Galante, Tyler Hacker and Ben Mitrano who each scored three points. Jacob Keley made 7s (70%) for Hilton (11-4_ who will finish their regular season with Irondequoit on Tuesday.

# 2876  Many Mismatches Today, and Hilton Takes Out Fairport

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were fourteen games played today and most were mismatches. Of the rest, Hilton, for the first time in program history, beat Fairport 9-8, despite a last quarter surge by the Red Raiders. The Cadets led 4-3 at the half and then scored five goals in the third to end the quarter up 9-4. The offense of Hilton was spread between eight players with Matthews Mojsej leading with 1g-2a. Ben Metrano, Brenden Howell and Michael Galante each added two goals while Clayton Duford recorded 9s (53%) for Hilton (8-3). Klay Stuvert and Colin Peers each had 3g-2 for Faiport (8-2)

# 2832  Hilton Wins in Overtime

Hilton fought back from an early deficit to defeat Penfield 8-7 in the first overtime period.  The Cadets scored the game winning goal 3:28 into the first overtime period with an unassisted goal from Brenden Howell.  The Cadets controlled the ball for the majority of overtime and didn’t allow the Patriots a shot at the cage in overtime.  Hilton scored three of the final four goals in the game after trailing 0-3 after the first 10 minutes.

In a game that see-sawed back and forth, Thomas scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Pittsford 12-11. On the other end of town Penfield defeated Schroeder by a goal in the last minute of the game.

# 1394  Hilton over Irondequoit After Three Late Goals

Monday: DAY IN REVIEW: In a close game with four ties, Hilton (6-7) scored three goals in the last quarter to beat Irondequoit (8-4) 9-7. Eight players for the Cadets made the offensive book as as six players scored one goal each. Jordan DePetres had 2g and Ben Mitrano had 1g-1a to lead the Cadets. Junior face off middie, Shawn Doran won 13 draws (72%) and led the team in ground balls with twelve while Jacob Kelsey made a dozen saves (63%). Phil Barilla and Kessel Stefano each has 2g for Irondequoit. It was only the second win for Hilton against the Eagles since 2003.

# 1390  HFL Comes Back in Fourth Quarter for Win

HFL and Hilton played a close game tonight with the Cougars winning 8-6.  HFL opened up with the first goal less than one minute into play.  Jonathan Roth scored with a single player drive down the left side to give the Cougars and early 1-0 lead.  Two minutes later and Hilton responded.  Justin Mosher drove at the cage and instead of taking a shot, he passed off to Jordan DePetres behind the cage.  DePetres was already moving and came around the goal line to finish into the back of the net.

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: Victor faced a strong Corning team, who had eleven wins before today and spoiled their undefeated season with a 14-3 win at home. Leading the offense was sophomore attackman Camden Hay who had 4g. Nine other players each scored one goal. Senior midfielder Tuker Hill had eleven face off wins (92%). Canandaigua beat Orchard Park on the road.

# 1245  Pittsford Makes Finals for 4th Straight Year

Top seeded Pittsford defeated fourth seeded Hilton 13-5 in the first of the two back-to-back Semi-Final matchups played at Webster Thomas.  The game was a close for the first half, before Pittsford scored five unanswered in the third quarter and pulled ahead.  The Cadets scored the final goal of the game, but Pittsford scored eight unanswered goals, spanning the second through fourth quarters.  Pittsford advances to the Finals for the sixth time in eight years (2 wins in 2015 and 2011; 3 losses in 2016, 2014 and 2010).

John Galbraith scored the final goal of Pittsford`s comeback victory over Webster Thomas 9-8 in the first overtime period. The Titans scored the opening goal and never trailed; however, the game was tied 5 times throughout the contest.

# 1224  Hilton Controls Fourth Quarter to win

Hilton took their first lead of the game with 6:12 remaining in the fourth quarter and held off Brighton’s attempt at a comeback to defeat the Barons 13-11.  Brighton played three strong quarters before Hilton took over in the fourth.  The Cadets scored five unanswered goals spanning just over 4 minutes in the final quarter to secure the win.

Jonathan Kay scored the game winning goal in the first overtime period off an assist from Collin Griffin.  Webster Schroeder defeated Hilton 9-8.  The Warriors forced the overtime with 1:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.

# 1161  Monday: Midlakes, Victor and Wayne Win

DAY IN REVIEW: Mid seventy degrees was a rare treat for the players in the three games played today. Midlakes (5-0) won it's fifth game in a row when they traveled to Bloomfield Honeoye. The Macdonell boys took care of most of the scoring as Ryan posted 7g and Brandon added 3g-3a. Zach Davison recorded 13 saves (59%) for the Eagles. For the Pride, Tyler Joslyn and Jon Marble each turned in 3g-1a.

# 1157  Brighton Holds off Late Advance

April 6, 2017 - Brighton took a four goal lead into the second half on their way to a 10-9 win over Hilton.  The Barons had six players make their offensive scorebook in the win with Brett Randall leading in scoring with 3g-3a.  Hilton was more spread out with ten players in their offensive book.
